CHATTERBOX
Re: CHATTERBOX
Never heard of this guy, but apparently he's very highly regarded. However sometimes I wonder whether what they produce at this end of the "molecular gastronomy" spectrum can really be regarded as food. Maybe there should be a separate category universally, so you know whether you are to get real food or culinary party tricks.
Any suggestions for a new name for the molecular gastronomy places?

Fascinating that someone must have figured out that there were edible seeds underneath. Perhaps an accidental discovery when wanting to replant other things?
Incidentally, I spotted almond butter (so it is around) on Ocado if anyone is interested and allergic to peanuts.

Re: CHATTERBOX
My guess is that people would have seen animals digging for the seeds, I suspect that's often how hunter gatherers work
When I was a child we planted "monkey nuts", started in the airing cupboard and continued in the greenhouse - they grew, flowered, adn dipped over, but then wilted without fruiting

they are selling 'meridian' almond nut butter and cashew nut butter at lidl now, alongside the peanut butter ordinaire - and a whole range of nut butters at sainsburys and tesco, too.
a friend makes a whole range of nut butters - although they are a little expensive - https://carleys.co.uk/products/
Re: CHATTERBOX
I made almond butter a few months ago ... or was it cashew nut butter? I seem to remember that Gill also made it and it turned out really well.
Re: CHATTERBOX
Sorry it was cashew nut butter. Here is the thread, but my photos were removed:

Our local nut butter company is Pip and Nut
All the ones I have tasted have been delicious apart from the peanut butter which is just wrong

I find that the Meridian nut butters are really greasy.
I quite like their peanut butter, although it does stick to the teeth a bit. Always reminds me of an old Spitting Image sketch of James Callaghan

My teeth are hurting just looking at the picture.

Re: CHATTERBOX
I had recently read about ruby cocoa beans and a Swiss chocolatier was behind this new pink chocolate. I suppose if one closes one's eyes, it might be more palatable! I won't be buying it.
Re: CHATTERBOX
I'll buy a pink one to taste the fruity chocolate but Kit Kat wafers are too sweet for me so I'll nibble it off from the edges. Which I suppose begs the question as to why it isn't being premiered simply as a bar of chocolate in its own right.

Re: CHATTERBOX
Jeral, they do like to dabble with the kitkat, don't they.
I think the only improvement for me on a kitkat bar I've tasted is the kitkat Chunky.
My least favourite is the 2 fingered one .... too small

Oh My Word - that pink kitkat looks just wrong to me, more like a late April Fools prank than something real, but it sounds as though it is genuine. Oh well, that will keep the unicorn fans happy

Re: CHATTERBOX
That looks just wrong on all counts. I went off Kit-kats about 40 years ago though. I dislike all chocolate biscuits however, except perhaps a dark chocolate digestive, but even those don't seem to taste the same these days.
