Bicarb freshness tip thanks
Hello everyone
A few months back we had a thread on how to test the freshness of bicarbonate of soda/baking soda. One kind person (apologies, I have forgotten who it was)suggested adding a drop of either lem on juice or vinegar to 1tsp of soda that you've put in a bowl/mug. If it froths up, the bicarb is fine to use. I found this tip particularly useful because I needed to use some bicarb in my Christmas Cake this year. My current tub is almost 2 years out of date (oh the shame!). Anyway, I used the above tip to check if it was OK and the said bicarb frothed up like a good'un.
So I would just like to say a big thank you to whoever it was that provided that gem of information!!!!
