Under the gooseberry bush...
I've been given several very healthy baby goosegog bushes. I love gooseberries so am thrilled.
How to give them the best start in a (hopefully) long life? Lots of well-rotted horse manure? Or treat them hard and plant them in a poorer soil. I have both.
And yes, I could Google... but personal experiences and suggestions are always so much more interesting.

Re: Under the gooseberry bush...
Hi Tatihou
Lucky you. They won't grow here but I too love goosegogs. I remeber helping Dad plant bushes in our shared allotment and he dug the hole and put in plenty of manure/compost. I also remeber hime keeping them well-watered - not that that was a huge problem in NE England!!
I am not too sure if this time of year is the best for planting - i seem to remember that fruit bushes should go in in autumn. Are they in pots? If so possibly best to just keep them watered for a couple of months.
I am sure someone else will have suggestions.
