Difficulty logging in

Postby Sakkarin » Mon Jul 09, 2012 4:10 pm

Sorry about the difficulty logging in to the board, I've contacted the service provider and they assure me it's just a temporary glitch, like the one a couple of months back. Not good though.

Hi Sakkarin

Thanks for the reassurance - I was beginning to think the US authorities had closed us down!!

Morning all,

I have posted on the board issues thread but thought i would add something here.

Not only could I not post or get access for a lot of yesterday afternoon/evening but when I managed this morning it seems that all Tuesday's posts have vanished.

I had to log-in this morning, probably due to the glitch yesterday.

I just had problems posting the preserved lemons recipe on your monkfish thread Sakkarin. It took me 5 tries and I had to log in again this morning too. El.

Updates on the problem here:

viewtopic.php?f=16&t=692

It doesn't yet seem fully back to normal, still dragging its heels a bit when clicking through, should be virtually instantaneous.

Hi, I can get on this forum now, as I too had the same problem when trying to open the website. All ok now thank you.

But, however, I would like to know why I don't receive notifications when replies are posted. I have checked my profile. I will have yet another look.

Also, I tried to choose an avatar and that didn't work, it seemed to freeze on me. I then read somewhere that I would need permission (?) to have one. Still in the dark there.

Hi Bethgem,

I would like to know why I don't receive notifications when replies are posted. I have checked my profile. I will have yet another look.

If you click on the blue "Search" button on the left of the screen you will see an option saying "View your posts", when you click on that you can see all of the things you have posted, and the ones with a red brush next to them means that somebody has replied.

You don't need permission to make an avatar, but it does have to be a certain size for it to upload namely Maximum dimensions; width: 100 pixels, height: 100 pixels, file size: 24.41 KiB. for it to work

If you need any help with anything we will do our best to sort it out for you, no problem at all. :)

I think Bethgem may be asking why she doesn't receive email notification of new postings - that is set to "no" by default. I think this is how to set that up...

1. To get email notifications, go to USER CONTROL PANEL on the left

2. When it is open click "Board Preferences" in the top line of tabs on the top right

3. Then click "Edit posting defaults" on the second line of tabs.

4. The bottom line on that page says "notify me upon replies by default", which you should click to "yes"

5. then click the submit button, not the RESET button I'm pointing at!

Hi, I'm back again with a query. Avatar. How do I get one?

I have not found a link about this anywhere in my User Control Panel. Is there another heading where it is hiding?!!?

I've made a note of the required maximum size of one from the post above by Wokman, but so far I can't find a way to get one.

Part of this post may help, and if you want to give it a roadtest, there are already some ready-made avatars to try it out on in the avatar gallery when you go to USER CONTROL PANEL>>> PROFILE>>>EDIT AVATAR, there is a button at the bottom that says "DISPLAY GALLERY".

Hello,

At last I've chosen an avatar! I did not like any of them, except the Gromit one. I hope you don't mind me having the companion to your Wallace, Sakkarin.

I feel that I have finally arrived now, and said tarrar to the beeb boards! :clap :thumbsup

Can I ask about the Free Range board on here please? Only, it is blocked, well not opening really, and it's not my computer gone wrong as I am now on here.

I know some of the posters on here also post over there you see, that's why I came here to ask.

I hope it's ok to ask on here about this. Is there a blackout over there?

Thanks Ren. I'll try it a bit later.

Edit: A bit later now, and I still could not open the FreeRange website when I just tried it. Any ideas?
