My local branch once had to close early because it ran out of frozen chips.
Maybe they should temporarily rebrand as KFAC.

Yes, and it was also said today that many tons of chicken is having to be wasted that couldn't be delivered.
If it's true that the change was indeed made to undercut the price of the previously reliable distributor, Bidvest, then I guess the decision sure has come back to bite KFC and DHL

Someone twitter said that as the delivery service is DHL, perhaps the KFC staff should check in next door's hedge for their delivery?
Re: The world maybe coming to an end.....over chicken???
Ha ha, yeah, so true. I used DHL a couple of times and suddenly became a local parcel hub.
Sakkarin, peck? Blimey, a shortage of hen's teeth as well? (I'll get my coat.)
There are several copycat KFC recipes on the Net if anyone's interested, although one thing I notice from US progs in southern states is that they dip a lot of meat (even steak if "chicken fried") in a thick buttermilk before crumbing or spice coat, so instead of our flour & egg version.
I can't eat buttermilk, so I'm curious, has anyone tried that?

Re: The world maybe coming to an end.....over chicken???
I believe that soaking in buttermilk makes the chicken more tender and moist.
Re: The world maybe coming to an end.....over chicken???
True Pampy, as with yoghurt marinades, but they just seem to dip meat and use the buttermilk as the medium to stick the coating, sometimes double dipped and coated. Maybe it adds a tang or is just less goopy than wheat flour and egg? In fact, they don't seem to use wheat flour at all, favouring cornmeal if anything.
Re: The world maybe coming to an end.....over chicken???
As a PS, I was thinking about this, i.e. use of wheat flour and its gloopiness and need to cook out, in the chillas thread, that besan (or cava) flour, being no gluten, doesn't have that drawback (as neither does cornmeal of course).
Sorry if straying a bit from KFC, but I suppose in foodies it always invoked the idea of making something better at home

Most, if not all of the recipes that I have seen where buttermilk is used tell you to marinate the chicken for about 24 hours before draining and cooking, not just dip it. I think it's the acid in the buttermilk that tenderises the chicken (in the same way that citrus fruits are often used as tenderising marinades).

A pub in a nearby village used to do some nice game dishes. One of their dishes was KFP - the P being pigeon.

Come to think of it, I've not heard the ones at Van Hage for a while...

Kentucky Flied Frying Rat?
Whoops, I mean Kentucky Fried Flying Rat...
"Kentucky Fried Pigeon" sounds like one of those "accidental" KFC surprises you read about occasionally.

Mr Strictly saw this joke on the internet and put if on Facebook. Thought it was appropriate to share it on here
'Disgusted to hear that despite of the recent fiasco of DHL failing to deliver KFC products that they have now gone and won the Cadburys contract, great timing just before Easter!
Problem is they now don't know what to deliver first.. The chicken or the egg!'
