Molecularly Gastronomic Pastries
A friend just pointed me in the direction of this ingredients website.
He has a history as a caterer, and was recommending the "bun spice" for hot cross buns (although a couple of teaspoons of mixed spice does the trick for me), however I noticed this molecular gastronomy-style Pastries kit which looks interesting:

Anyone with £99.99 to spare, I'd be interested to see how you get on! Some flashy looking desserts there.

Fascinating to look through and I recognised a few well-known chefs who are using these products.
Here is a video of how to make The Anti-Fried Egg:

I don't quite understand the purpose of making it!

Re: Molecularly Gastronomic Pastries
I suppose if you give very exotic dinner parties it would be impressive to be presented with that the first time, but beyond that, the surprise will have gone!
So maybe if I had Antigriddle I'd use it three or four times. At £1400, that would be at a cost of over £350 a time. They'd better be VERY good friends at the dinner party! Or maybe we could buy one jointly, so its only £175 a shot.

I think I saw a similar thing with a non-frozen mango egg, I believe on this board someweher, that would be considerably cheaper.
EDIT: Yes, mango egg discussed here, and refers back to the old Beeb board!

Thank you for posting the links ..
Definitely a fascinating subject ..
I have never attempted this adventure however, I have eaten at the former El Bulli and in all of Albert Adriá`s venues amongst others.
It is quite amazingly astounding to dine out at a venue in which the Chefs are well trained in this specialty ..
The products they use were developed at El Bulli and are called Texturas and are available in Barcelona and on Amazon ..
Have a lovely weekend ..

Barcelona, soulful & spirited, filled with fine art, amazing architecture, profoundly steeped in culture & history, and it engages all your senses, and food fancies.
