Mark,
Oh my .. Such greed and volatileness over some industrialised product ..
Surely, detestable behaviour ..
Have a lovely weekend ..

It was all quite ridiculous and all over a really rather awful product.
You can imagine the "garlic" shrugs which ensued in these parts amongst genuine foodies.

As a child I loved the stuff, when it first appeared over here in the sixties. Probably haven't had it for 45 years.
In more recent times we did buy a jar of chocolate spread as an alternative pancake filling for Shrove Tuesday, but threw away the half used jar after a few years as the oil had become rancid.

I've had Nutella several times but I'm not mad on it, mainly when I've been eating Ferrero Rochers but other times as well. It's a bit too sweet for my tastes. However, we did buy some of Asda's Dark Chocolate and Mint last year though which was OK. However, the mint flavour was so strong that it almost drowned out the chocolate. Nothing that a spoonful of cocoa powder couldn't fix though! We may have tried the Asda version of Nutella a few years back. I can remember making Nigella Lawson's pancake recipe with Nutella, hazelnuts and Frangelico which was quite nice. The fact that I've only made it the once says a lot!

One of the co-hosts of the Australian series good chef bad chef, Adrian Richardson, who was the good chef. Looked meat and cream and chocolate. I swear the other host was a member of the food police. I tell people don't preschool to me about what to each.
Any how, he had a great recipe for Nutella bread and butter pudding. Ultra fantastic when still warm.
Can't find the tv version....her is one version of hard copy

I did watch one episode of that series, that 'food police' female co-host was indeed very annoying! i did like Adrian though.

Nutella is delicious, but then so are smoked salmon, fresh green peas with butter and Parma Ham. Not something I´d want to riot about!
I have a Baker friend who makes a Rosca ( a traditional 6th January bread ring)v filled with Nutella. Now THAT´S worth rioting for!
