Toasted sandwich ideas for my George Foreman grill

Postby cooksalot » Thu May 10, 2012 6:54 pm

Just before the Beeb board went I asked for tips on using my new George Foreman grill. Lots of useful info. Since I've had it my favourite lunch is toasted cheese sandwiches from the grill. :) I am going to do a panini with salami and mozzarella tomorrow.
I'm looking for some more toasted sandwich ideas - inspiration seems to have left me..
All suggestions gratefully received!

A panini with brie and thickish sliced good quality ham is nice toasted.

Slice some feta cheese, put on slice of bread, add shredded sundried tomato, 2 anchovy fillets and a sprig of fresh thyme.
Close with another slice of bread and grill. Wonderful.

I love toasties!!

Try these:

Cream cheese and dates.
Tuna melt - add sweet corn or peppers.
Peanut butter and banana.
Sardine and salsa.
Smoked salmon and cream cheese.
Cottage cheese and pear.
Chicken, bacon and cheese.
Sesame prawn.
Monte cristo.
Gorgonzola, fig and Parma ham.

Try dipping your bread in beaten egg first and doing 'eggy bread' toasties.

Cheers

Dean

Karen,

I just wipe them over with oil on kitchen towel before I throw the bread on. My toaster maker only gets a wipe when it's been used and never soapy water. I used to wash my GF grill though. The eggy bread makes a nice change.

Cheers

Yes - fancy eggy bread toasties! Of Dean's ideas the sesame prawn is really rocking my boat. A definite must to try!

My favourite is Moz, Basil & Tom - well seasoned and a sprinkling of olive oil.

Sugar and banana is good too.

Brie and cranberry sauce.

Last week I caramilised bananas on the GF, absolutely delicious and all washed down with lashings of cream.

I did some toastie experimentation with sandwich toaster recently.

Did a pizza toastie (concentrated tomato puree, buffalo mozarella, salami or pepperoni), a hot dog toastie (ketchup and frankfurters, of course you could do mustard and even add browned onions) and oh, a toasted tea cake!

ham or bacon and guacamole
fry a little bit of pepper and red onion then you can have humous, pepper and red onion
hard boiled egg and cheese
bacon, brie and rocket

I also "sandwich toast" wraps. I tend to see what's in my fridge then make up fillings as i go along!
