I feel so sorry for the vindaloo curry. It really isn't necessary to be that hot. As I expect you know KKA, the name derives from the Portuguese (wine, now vinegar and garlic) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vindaloo

I often make it with pork and I love it's mix of flavours.

Yes, Dena - vindaloo has (unfortunately)been pigeonholed as the Macho Man Curry, and it's not like that at all, even though in the Southern parts of India, food tends to be considerably hotter than in the North.
I'm definitely going to make one another day with our local "Aji Dulce" (sweet chiles) to see how it works.
